A Smart Home that ties everything together

Scott’s stunningly renovated house in Kent is a fantastic example of a Smart Home.

We were approached to install a full Loxone system as part of the renovation, which added side and rear extensions as well as underfloor heating, a cinema room and more.

We got to go the whole hog on this property: Automated lighting and heating, advanced security features, energy management, an AV setup for the home cinema and even an automated jukebox for Scott’s garage den!

What’s most impressive is that even with all of these features, the house is now so efficient that the savings in energy mean that the system will eventually pay for itself!

Why Loxone?

Scott had previously used other smart technology, but wanted to switch to Loxone after trying it elsewhere.

Here are a few of our favourite features of this Smart Home:

Smart Security Glass

This amazing technology makes the glass opaque at the push of a button for extra security and privacy. Because of the flexibility of the Loxone technology, we were able to integrate this into the smart home system. Now, upon leaving the house, a simple triple-tap of the touch control by the door not only activates the alarm and locks the door behind them, it also switches the smart glass to opaque.

As with all Loxone features, the smart glass can be controlled remotely from the app. So if someone forgets to set the alarm, Scott can do so remotely. If the alarm is triggered or unusual movement is detected the system automatically sends an alert to the app. This means Scott can keep a close eye on his home – even when on holiday.

Cinema Room

Who doesn’t love a cinema room! Scott’s even has popcorn and pick n mix dispensers. We installed the AV setup and the different lighting options – all controlled via the Loxone app or the touch switch on the wall.

Garage / games room

Scott’s garage is our idea of a dream man cave! Complete with a traditional jukebox (that starts playing automatically when entered), a fully-stocked bar and everything a cyclist could need! We set this up entirely with Loxone Air technology, so there was no need for any cabling or drilling.

Tieing it all together

The Loxone System controls every aspect of the home. Much of this is automated, so Scott and his family don’t need to think about it. But, when required, every function can be manually-controlled through the Loxone app or via the touch switches placed conveniently throughout the house.

Overall, it has given Scott an easy-to-use, elevated living experience that saves energy and adds value to his property!
