As you might imagine, we get this question all the time. Commonly, people think of a
house full of the latest technology, where everything is WiFi-connected and every
function of the house has it’s own app you can control from your phone.
Doesn’t that sound exhausting?!
At Smart Living, our reality is very different. Our no-nonsense Smart Homes are designed with a single goal in mind – give you back your time by making daily life easier. A home that instinctively knows what to do, and quietly gets on with job in the background, not a collection of gimmicks competing for your attention that leave you feeling overwhelmed.
Powered by Loxone smart home technology, we automate everything from new builds to existing homes across Kent and London.

“I don’t think I was prepared for the difference the smart technology has made. I couldn’t live without it!”
Our Smart Homes instinctively take care of most everyday tasks relating to safety, comfort and energy-efficiency.
Lights come on automatically when needed and turn off when you leave the room. Heating and ventilation is activated automatically to ensure the ideal temperature at all times. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
This saves you and your family up to 50,000 tasks a year!; giving back something that is irreplaceable: Time.
Time for all the things you do for joy, not out of habit.
The upshot of all this automation, aside from the time-saving and lifestyle benefits, is that your home becomes highly energy-efficient!
Loxone technology learns your habits; combining lighting, shading, heating and more to create real savings on your energy bills. Not a single kilowatt is wasted!
And if your home has Solar panels, our system can optimise the electricity you generate to get even more out of your PV system.
The possibilities are almost endless, but here are some common features of most Smart Homes. Click the button to find out more about each one, with real-life examples from our own home!
Smart lighting is one of the largest lifestyle changes a Smart Home can provide. Not only does it save you the repeated efforts to get up and switch the light on or off, it also enables advanced ambient lighting setups depending on the situation. For example, say you always have a dinner date with your partner on the same evening each week; the house knows to create the perfect lighting setup (combining your chosen colours and combinations) to make that meal extra special, every week, without you needing to think about it.
With sensors in each room, you never need fumble about for the light switch in the dark – lights automatically come on for you and turn off when your presence is no longer detected, reducing energy bills and wastage.
In our own smart home, it’s the little things that add up to make a big impact. For example, if anyone needs to get up in the night for the toilet, the automatic lighting is set to be much dimmer. So no one trips up in the dark and everyone sleeps better! We’ve also stopped worrying about the kids leaving lights on and wasting energy when they’re not in the room – which makes family life a little bit easier!
Automatic climate control can be set for each room – meaning the home is always the perfect temperature. Simply set and forget.
Using automatic blinds helps to keep the room cool in summer and warm in winter. Sensors actually know when the sun is facing the windows and the system reacts as needed.
The system ensures maximum energy efficiency, so you’re never using your boiler more than you need.
In our own experience at home, it’s refreshing to never have to think about the heating. Our Loxone system adjusts automatically, so if we have a lot of guests over for example, the room where everyone is congregating is never too hot, whilst the rest of the house remains comfortable.
Your smart home is equipped with presence sensors that are continuously monitoring for more than just movement. If your home is locked and the system is armed (which happens with a single touch of a button when leaving the house) the system knows when someone is trying to gain access. It will then send a notification to your smartphone and sound an alarm which is also played at max volume through your audio system – at the same time flashing all the lights in your house!
In general use, you can choose to replace your traditional key with keypad entry or keycards, even allowing entry remotely from your phone (if for example your partner loses their key).
You can’t put a price on peace of mind. If we’re away it’s reassuring to know that we can keep an eye on the house through our phones. In day-to-day life, leaving the house becomes so much easier. A single button press as we leave activates the alarm and locks all doors (in some homes it can also shut the windows and blinds for you!)
As we’ve seen, everything is connected with a Smart Living smart home, and your audio setup is no exception. Easily controlled by a tap of your nearest touch switch, or from the app, our Loxone system allows for multi-room music from your preferred streaming service or radio station.
Listen to a podcast while doing chores and have it follow you to the next room automatically. Play text to speech messages to certain rooms from your phone and even sing along to your favourite song in the shower!
As with everything, you have full control. If you have kids, you can allow them control of their own room, but nobody elses!
Our no-nonsense smart homes are powered by Loxone – the pioneers in smart automation technology.
Why is this important?
Because Loxone’s products and software are tried, tested, completely customisable to any scenario and continually being improved upon. In short, we believe they’re the best at what they do.
As a certified Loxone Partner, we’re required to attend regular training on the newest technology and keep up our professional development, so you know you’re in safe hands.
Another reason we love Loxone’s technology is that it doesn’t require a live internet connection. This means your home continues to work as intended even if your Wifi goes down. Loxone take privacy seriously too. No data is ever sent to the cloud for processing or recording – everything remains safe and secure on your personal server within your home.
Of course we have a smart home! Years ago, we retrofitted our family home in Margate with Loxone technology. Not only does this give us first-hand experience to pass on to our customers, but it allows us to test updates and new hardware before going out to our client’s homes.
Whilst our smart homes are designed to run on autopilot, it’s always important to have control.
Every function of your smart home can be accessed and controlled via the free Loxone app. That’s everything you’ll ever need to change in one convenient place.
Attractive, customisable switches are also placed conveniently throughout the home, with up to 5 programmable functions available on each.
“In the past, we had to close all shutters, switch off lights and much more by hand. Not with Loxone. In the evening, blinds go down, and in the morning they go up – all automatically. The lighting works together with the blinds, too. We save on energy costs. It’s a dream.”

Your Smart Home Questions answered
A Loxone Smart Home is an intelligent automation system that controls lighting, heating, security, audio, shading, and more — all in one seamless platform. It learns how you live and automatically adjusts your environment for comfort, efficiency, and security. The system is completely customisable, which allows us to program almost any kind of automation you can think of.
With over 15 years of experience and certified as Loxone Silver Partners, Smart Homes are simply what we do best. We’ve worked on over 20 smart home projects – from assisting with existing installs that need updating to building new systems completely from scratch. We also have the technology in our own home, so we not only know it inside-out, but we understand how to get the best out of it for daily life.
We work openly and transparently – with our 3 promises guiding every client interaction:
– We won’t confuse you
– We won’t ghost you
– We won’t be happy until you’re happy
The technology is flexible and can be installed in both new builds and existing properties. Whether you’re renovating or upgrading, we can design a system that suits your home’s structure and your personal wants and needs.
Almost anything! The system can control lighting, heating, cooling, blinds, security systems, energy monitoring, multi-room audio, access control, and more — all working together intelligently and automatically.
While you can control everything via the Loxone app or smart switches, the beauty of the system is in its automation. Your home runs intelligently in the background, so you only need to intervene when you want to.
Yes. Loxone systems use secure, locally stored data — not cloud-based storage — giving you full privacy and control. This also means the system still works correctly even if your internet connection goes down. We always ensure each system is set up with the latest security protocols for the best protection possible.
Absolutely. Our systems are modular, allowing you to add features or expand your setup at any time. Start with lighting or heating and grow into full automation as your needs evolve.
The cost depends on the size of your property, the features you’d like, and the level of automation. We offer tailored solutions and a free consultation to provide accurate, transparent pricing based on your project.
Yes, we provide full aftercare and support, including system updates, troubleshooting, training and guidance on using your smart home to its full potential.
We’re based in Kent and cover the South East of England, including London, Surrey, Sussex, and surrounding areas. If you’re unsure, just get in touch to check our availability in your location.
While Alexa and Google are great entry-level voice assistants, they rely heavily on cloud services and need manual commands. Loxone, on the other hand, is a fully integrated, professional-grade automation system. It works autonomously — your home reacts intelligently without needing constant input. Loxone also prioritises data privacy by storing everything locally, offers deeper control over heating, lighting, security, and more, and is built to scale with your home. Alexa and Google are like remote controls — Loxone is the brain of your home.
Not necessarily. While a full rewire can provide the best foundation for a fully integrated smart system, especially in new builds or major renovations, it’s not always required. For existing homes, we can often use Loxone’s retrofit-friendly solutions, like wireless components (Loxone Air) that work without disturbing walls or running new cables. During your consultation, we’ll assess your current setup and recommend the best approach for your home and budget.
